’Tis Samhain in the Southern Hemisphere which is the day of the Celtic medicine wheel that marks the more commonly known “Halloween”. It’s the seasonal moment that marks the threshold of moving into Deep Autumn. I’m currently on day 24 of my cycle, and I’m feeling a remarkable alignment. Inner-deep autumn with outer deep autumn – wooooaaaa! ?️?
While our Northern Hemisphere friends are celebrating high spring, flowering and birth, we’re celebrating death, decay and the mysterious transformations the darkness brings.
Seeds cannot germinate in the light. They need to be cloaked in the silence and stillness of the dark to undergo their metamorphosis.
This evening, take a moment to reflect on the past 6 months.
What have you cultivated?
What seeds of intention would you like to bring into the void with you for these darker seasons?
And if you feel scared or fearful of the idea of darkness, how can you change your perception to see how fruitful and essential to the light it is?
Some other Celtic ways to celebrate this moment are eat an apple and say a prayer for your life’s harvest, clear some ghosts, meet some ghosts, write down what you’re ready to let go of and burn in a ceramic pot with a candle.
If you’d like to go on a soul journey this weekend, I have a meditation in the shop called “Meeting the Shadows” which will guide you to meet a shadow and find a way to integrate its medicine in your life.
